As reported here last week on Wednesday Feb 1, David Letterman recently celebrated 30 years of hosting the Late Show. The celebration is a good time to remember the legendary Johnny Carson, who hosted the Tonight Show between Oct 1, 1962 and May 22, 1992. Letterman appeared 51 times as a guest on the Tonight Show and his dream was to host it after Carson’s retirement (according to the book The Late Shift: Letterman, Leno, and the Network Battle for the Night he was Johnny’s first choice).
On Wednesday night, David Letterman celebrated the 30th anniversary of hosting the Late Show, combining his time on NBC and the show’s current run on CBS.
