Zach Galifianakis is coming to a television near you! That’s right, Between Two Ferns, an immensely web-series that centers around Galifianakis conducting awkward interviews with A-list celebrities, makes its debut appearance on TV May 6. Producer Scott Aukerman confirmed the news on Comedy Bang Bang this past Monday and also announced that there will be guest appearances by Richard Branson, Jon Stewart and Tina Fey.
I don’t have a house phone anymore and I never come close to reaching all my monthly cell phone minutes. Nowadays pretty much everyone communicates via texts, messages, and chat. If your friends are anything like mine, you get sent links constantly to various – and hopefully funny – internet sensations. You might have noticed the exact same links showing up from different people, and if the mood strikes you, you yourself might send it to someone else thus helping create the status of an internet meme.
Eddie Gossling’s Fresh Brewed could be a 1940′s production of Warner Bros. Studios. I suspect that if Eddie nicked himself shaving, “Red Ink No. 5″ would spill out onto the sink.
Stand-up comedy is a very strange genre. A comedian stands on a stage with nothing but a microphone, a stool, a water (or something stronger), and talks to an audience about whatever.
Sunday proved to be a significant evening for comedies and comedians at the 84th Annual Academy Awards ceremony. Comedians represented in the fields of Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress as well as Best Original Screenplay. Although contenders Jonah Hill, Melissa McCartney, and Krisitn Wiig did not bring home the golden statuettes, they did have their shining moment at the awards ceremony.
The truly, insanely, freakishly talented comedian Pablo Francisco sat down with AmericasComedy.Com and let us in on his hugely amazing world. Fresh off of a trip to South Africa, the international sensation will now be touring America for the next couple months, including here in Sacramento September 8-10.
One listen to this 45-plus minute set and you can tell Will Noonan is hungry. The Bostonian is young enough to connect with the dude demographic. At the same time you are left wanting to know how he progresses a few years down the road in what should be a terrific career.
unnyOrDie.com is a website created by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell that allows videos to be rated by peers on how funny or how not funny people think they are. Many contributors happen to be famous comics and actors who have surprised us in one way or another with their ridiculous videos. I took a look at a lot of videos and narrowed down five of my favorites. Before everyone gets their panties in a bunch- these are MY favorite FunnyorDie videos. If you have a different opinion, we’d love to hear what you think.
Marc Maron continues to amaze me with just how firm and unique his grasp on comedy is.
I first encountered Maron through his incredibly popular podcast WTF With Marc Maron. I quickly discovered that, while we are almost nothing alike, he is simply so emotionally open on mic, you can’t not relate to him. I genuinely don’t think its possible. I’ve shown his podcast to a few of my friends, many of whom have no ties to comedy, and even they admit that they relate to at least portions of his manic, neurotic identity.
Not too long ago we saw comedian and actor Ken Jeong star in commercials with NBA phenoms Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose, helping to promote the the shoe company Adidas. Nike is now using a similar strategy, hiring a comedian themselves - Parks and Recreation’s Aziz Ansari. This new commercial features one of my favorite comedians and an athlete I love to hate – Kobe Bryant.
